Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Broad scope tasks are completed by gathering information, requirements, and determining priorities
• Preparing construction budgets by studying plans, updating specifications, and evaluating project job costs
• Reviewing former cost/data metrics to aid in the bidding process
• Evaluating offers to purchase via costing changes, additions, site requirements, etc.
• Implement protocols and develop value-add methodologies to streamline the estimating process while supporting long term development of the company vision and the estimating team
• Procurement of bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and price negotiation
• Resolves cost discrepancies by collection, analyzation, and summarization of information and trends
• Support project teams with scope development, bid requirements, schedule of values, and contractual language
• Providing a positive and mutually beneficial Pihl Excavation experience with every interaction
• Delivering high quality service by following organizational standards
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

• 5-year record of empirical success as an estimator
• Acute ability to analyze plans and specifications, procure sub-contractors and suppliers, set up online forums for sub-contractors, and writing technical proposals
• Perception thereof and ability to forecast current market trends, needs, state/federal laws and regulations
• Ensure the accuracy and timely completion of proposals from inception throughout execution
• Demonstrate leadership and establish estimating protocols for pricing structure development
• Experience with civil, mass excavation, mass grading, utilities, paving, and demolition
• Profound comprehension with HeavyBid estimating software
• Comparable familiarity with AGTEK and Bluebeam take-off software would be beneficial
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills within the company and outside entities
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Truck Driver

Pihl Excavating, a growing excavation & utilities company, is currently accepting applications and looking to hire Truck Driver.

- Valid Oregon Unrestricted Class A CDL with tanker endorsement
- Current medical card
- Pass a pre-employment drug test
- Clean driving record
- DOT compliant
- Knowledge of Portland area.
- Truck driving experience in Dump Trucks, Truck and Pup, End Dumps, Side Dumps, Water Trucks, and equipment hauling equipment.
- Hazmat certification experience a plus, but not a requirement.
- Must be physically capable of climbing in and out of truck boxes.
- The successful candidate will have a proven safety record as well as a history of being a team player.
- Must be able to work without direct supervision.
- Good communication skills.
- Piloting experience a plus
- Self-Starter and self-motivated

Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Daily equipment inspections
- Maintaining a daily log book
- Moving equipment to and from job sites
- Material delivery to job sites
- Pre-shift and post trip inspections
- Properly log weight of material hauled

Project Manager

Pihl Excavating is an earth moving company dedicated to high-quality workmanship based out of Banks Oregon.

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Review and approve timecards for all assigned projects. Review plans and specifications. Review contract documents from clients and obtain signatures. Prepare change orders and obtain signatures. Prepare budgeted costs for change orders. Prepare subcontract agreements and obtain signatures. Prepare monthly billings for all assigned projects. Prepare and update construction schedules. Communicate with Site Superintendents daily. Schedule subcontractors and visit job sites, as necessary. Attend meetings with clients, engineers and jurisdictions. Follow up on punch lists. Obtain final inspections and prepare closeout documents.

You will need:

-Ability to prioritize
-Planning and organizing
-Critical thinking and problem solving
-Proven Leadership and communication
-Ability to work with construction accounting software
-Motivation to drive continuous improvement processes
-At least three years of construction project management experience
-Experience with (CRM) Customer relationship management
-Experience with excavation, grading, underground utilities and road construction
-Experience with Private, Federal and State DOT projects
-Software (AutoCAD Civil, HCSS HeavyBid, HCSS HeavyJob, HCSS Plans, AGTEK earthwork)
